An Artisanal Love Affair

An Artisanal Love Affair

One of our most coveted pieces throughout the years, mochilas have been an important part of the brand for over a decade. Made in collaboration with the indigenous Wayuu community of the Guajira region in Colombia, each piece is lovingly handmade with remarkable detail—no two mochilas are exactly alike.

This ongoing partnership has improved the community, providing them with a steady income, but also the preservation of a magnificent artisanal tradition. Each handbag contains a world of history and meaning: more than an accessory, they are a small treasure.

Elaborated with high-quality threads and crafted in various shapes and sizes, it can take up to a week to manufacture each piece. Made exclusively by artisan women, the handwoven buckets are then taken to our production facilities where they are further embellished with Swarovski crystals and fabrics such as silks and lace. Oftentimes, they are even painted by hand. Mochilas are sacred to the Wayuu, which is why our intervention is non-invasive and respectful of their inherent symbolism.

Worn by stylish women all over the world such as, Sofia Vergara, Lauren Santo Domingo and Martha Stewart, these classic handbags are perfect for the holidays. Versatile and effortless, it pairs well with a casual outfit and also looks great with a gown.
