Leaving our Mark in the Dominican Republic

Leaving our Mark in the Dominican Republic

Recently, we had the opportunity to present a trunk show in the Dominican Republic, a country we adore for its beauty, but mostly, the kind and welcoming nature of its people. The private event was held in the Club de Campo La Romana to benefit two remarkable community-focused projects with long trajectories in the country, Fundación Hogar Casa del Niño and Fundación MIR, which the brand first collaborated with 20 years ago.

The private event was held in the Club de Campo La Romana to benefit two remarkable community-focused projects with long trajectories in the country, Fundación Hogar Casa del Niño and Fundación MIR, which the brand first collaborated with 20 years ago.

“It’s no secret that I feel very much at home here in the Dominican Republic. Besides friends who have become family, and mentors like Oscar de la Renta, who left a permanent imprint in me and even as one of the designated locations for one of my boutiques in Puntacana Resort & Club, this country has given me so much throughout the years and giving back to it is a non-negotiable in my personal philosophy, as well as that of my company,”
shared Silvia on her recent trip.

Along with the leaders of these organizations, Xiomara de Menéndez and Lyan Fanjul de Azqueta, Silvia had the opportunity to visit some of the schools to share a special moment with the vibrant students and the heroic, selfless team of the institutions. “The achievements of both of these foundations are nothing short of extraordinary and I look forward to returning and to continue giving back to the youth here in any way I can,” said the designer.

Fundación MIR, one of the two non-profits who benefitted from the trunk show, works to educate underprivileged children in La Romana. The initiative has established three schools that impact the lives of over 1000 kids. On the other hand, Hogar del Niño is an education center that provides free schooling, meals and medical and dental health to more than 2000 students 18 and under. Their remarkable track records and close-knit ties to the area made them an obvious choice for this partnership.
