At its essence, Pre-Fall 2024 is a celebration of craftsmanship. For this collection, Silvia Tcherassi immersed herself in personal archives, closely studying the techniques she has applied throughout her career with a single purpose: To create something entirely novel. As a result of this deep dive into her previous work, new techniques and opportunities to experiment arose to the surface: leather trimmings with contrasting exposed stitching, prints over hammered fabric, broderie anglaise on eco leather and different shapes and textures created with appliqués. The outcome? A varied, yet coherent proposal that delights and surprises at the same time.
The designer, who has deemed her atelier as a space for limitless inventiveness and creation, wanted to embrace the transitional nature of the season and therefore includes various separates that layer easily. Among the highlights are a sleeveless trench and a jacket that also double as a blouse, depending on the occasion. The transeasonal aspect also allowed for a varied palette and a diversity of textiles: from lights to darks and light to heavy, the soft tailoring and fluidity of the silhouettes predominate the aesthetic. Ethereal day dresses and highly-detailed demi-couture gowns complete the proposal and serve as perfect options for the weddings and galas customary of the season.
"Although technically a pre-collection, I strive to create pieces that go beyond the ordinary and never feel basic. This time, my aim was to push the boundaries of experimentation and focus on intricate details, which isn't commonly seen in Pre-Fall collections. As a result, the garments exhibit highly elaborate designs that have been meticulously handcrafted. Upon careful examination, this palpable attention to detail becomes even more evident," shared Tcherassi.
