As the fashion landscape evolves and the industry gains prominence, it is essential to empower and educate the next generation of fashion creatives. This is why Silvia Tcherassi has partnered with the prestigious Istituto Marangoni Miami for the launch of the Silvia Tcherassi Scholarship–the first of its kind. “We live in an era where interest in fashion and fashion content is greater than ever. Young talents need more than passion; they need education, discipline, and a clear vision to succeed in this dynamic and challenging industry,” Tcherassi noted. “This scholarship is the first step for emerging designers to channel their creativity into something relevant and productive,” she added. 

To celebrate this exciting milestone, Hakan Bakyam, President and CEO of Istituto Marangoni, and Silvia Tcherassi hosted two events in the Colombian capital. The first was a working session at a private club in Bogota where students had the opportunity to share their portfolios with both the designer and Marangoni staff. The second event was a lively brunch for members of the press and special guests  at the Silvia Tcherassi flagship boutique in Bogotá.

The scholarship, awarded annually, will provide four spots for Colombian designers: One full scholarship for a one-year intensive course in Fashion Design, and three partial scholarships covering any IMM program, such as Fashion Business, Fashion Design, Fashion Styling, or Interior Design. Furthermore, the winner of the full scholarship will also have the opportunity of an apprenticeship program at Silvia Tcherassi. This apprenticeship will offer immersive experiences in key areas of fashion, from design to production, including sales and marketing. “We want the winners to experience the real workings of a brand, which will complement their education and motivate them to create their own label and business,” Tcherassi emphasized.

During the event, Tcherassi stressed the importance of finding one’s own point-of-view and originality as key criteria in the selection process. “Fashion is an art form deeply connected to the creator’s environment, but it must go beyond pre-established trends. We are looking for applicants who dare to express their vision authentically.”
